Shahzad Bashir is Aga Khan Professor of Islamic Humanities and Professor of History and Religious Studies at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. He has published extensively on various topics pertaining to Islam, including the books The Market in Poetry in the Persian World (2021), and Sufi Bodies: Religion and Society in Medieval Islam (2011). He is an Associate Editor of the journal History and Theory, edits the book series Islamic Humanities (University of California Press), and co-edits the book series Islamicate Intellectual History (Brill).
